A-C-T: 3 Steps to Get Moving Now

Late Summer isn’t usually the time we revisit life goals, build a healthy habit or work toward a new vocation.

But why not?

Tomorrow is a new day ripe with opportunity. The chance for a fresh start. Progress on a new habit or venture. Realizing a dream.

Just think what you could accomplish before the leaves turn and start to fall!

It’s easy to put off taking action, even when it would lead to what you truly want.

True confession, I’m adept at excuses like, why don’t I just wait until my son is back at college, until summer ends, until…

How about you?

Making excuses is one way we procrastinate, and underneath procrastination is FEAR.

And fear (with it’s accomplice insecurity) makes us wonder:

If I take a bold step and fail, will it mean I’m a failure?

If this dream I’ve been carrying doesn’t pan out, what will I do then?

What if I don’t have what it takes to do what God’s laid on my heart?

Our doubts and questions matter. They need and deserve to be named. They warrant our wrestling with them to decide if they’re really worth us NOT working toward what’s most important to us.

If you’re not making progress even though you really WANT something to shift, it’s time to ACT. Here are 3 steps to get moving NOW:

A—ASK yourself, what fear is keeping me paralyzed and procrastinating? After all, a problem identified is half-solved.

C—CONFIDENCE. How can you build your courage thru small steps, small wins? Achieving small successes fuels bigger victories.

T—TRUTH. Who can help you by speaking truth to your fears? Share your insecurities with someone who knows you and can offer objectivity as well as support.

Don’t wait. Get going on what matters to you NOW. You’ll be so glad you did.
